about

Dance music is common to all cultures yet rarely leads to fusion. Here, the tradition of the Mandinka sumu ritual pairs up with celebratory dance from Anatolia. Mamani’s explosive vocals respond to the transcendent singing of Aïda and Ruşan in a Kurdish dialect known as Sorani, with the whole ending up as ecumenical rejoicing.

lyrics

Mamani Keïta :
We feel so good here, we feel so good, I’m staying right here
We feel so good here, we feel so good, I’m staying right here
We feel so good, Mum has arrived
We feel so good, Aida has arrived
We feel so good, Sogol has arrived, I’m staying right here
It’s happened, it’s happened, so good
It’s happened, it’s happened, so good
The harmony is good, the atmosphere is good, let’s get on together and stay together

Aïda Nosrat :
Bring a bag, bring a stretcher
Don’t break this child’s heart
...
Zerya has no strength left
For whoever could mourn my heart
Who shall be mine
